I designed the icon with two ideas in mind. First, many IBM icons either show what the product does or play with its name. Second, the name "Genie" reminded me of both "GenAI" and the classic genie, often shown as blue—just like many IBM products. The icon shows smoke coming from a lamp, hinting at a figure, which represents how IBM Genie helps you in your design sessions, like a genie granting wishes. The blue colour connects it to IBM and the idea of a genie.

I followed IBM’s App icon guidelines, which is a part of IBM’s Carbon Design System, by following the grid and also colouring in light themes, dark themes and monochromatic (both black and white)
